A personal “Thank You” from Sally to everyone who came to the Cathedral for her Installation as an Honorary Canon at a special Evensong on 10th October. It was wonderful to have over 30 familiar faces from our Benefice at this service as well as some of Sally’s family and we were all welcomed to our Cathedral.

An Honorary Canon is invited to join the College of Canons at the Cathedral and be a voice from our part of the Diocese into its life and mission. Sally was installed in the ‘Chippenham seat’ in the Cathedral Quire which is hers to sit in for the duration of her ministry.

You can see in the photo Sally’s new Canon’s scarf with red trimming which has on it the Bristol Cathedral badge of three crowns and a ship. The crowns are symbols the Holy Trinity and the ship is in reference to Bristol’s origins as a port city. The three crowns are also the Diocesan symbol and you can find them in St Mary’s Marshfield in the stained glass windows of the South Aisle.
